Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner continues to think out of the box. He has proposed that when the new Tappan Zee bridge is built, that the old bridge not be demolished (demolition costs could run into the hundreds of millions of dollars). The bridge should become a suburban version of the NY highline or the Dutchess County Walkway Over the Hudson.
Supervisor Feiner has also suggested that when the new bridge is built that engineers explore the feasibility of making the bridge an eco bridge–using solar and wind power.
These two ideas could attract tourism, help the local economy and businesses, increase property values. What do you think?
